They argue that an old paradigm viewed feedback as simply a transmission of comments from teacher to student but ask us to embody a new feedback paradigm that prioritizes dialogue and interaction between teachers and students. Using this vision of feedback\, in this workshop\, we challenge our assumptions about feedback and redesign this integral part of formative and summative assessment to encourage student engagement\, sense-making\, and uptake. \nBy the end of this CTEI Workshop\, you will be able to: \n\nCreate spaces for meaningful formative and summative feedback;\nDesign meaningful feedback mechanisms in different modalities; and\nAssess the effectiveness of different feedback strategies for your teaching context.\n\n*This session will be 90 minutes (60-minute interactive workshop + 30 minutes optional conversation and Q&A)

DESCRIPTION:Accessibility Basics and Your Teaching Practice\nDate: Friday\, February 21st\, 2025 \nTime: 1:00-2:00pm (AT) / 12:00-1:00pm (ET) / 9:00-10:00am (PT) \nRegister here! \nWebinette Description: \nThis CTEI “Webinette” (a 15-minute pedagogical presentation followed by 45 minutes of interactive discussion and Q&A) will outline the basics of accessible practices in our teaching when it comes to document creation and use – specifically\, with PowerPoint slides (and the like). We’ll define what the term “accessibility” means and why it is essential in our teaching roles at Yorkville U + TFS (and beyond) as well as identify and describe basic-level accessibility practices that you can immediately implement and apply with your teaching materials to enhance accessibility and remove barriers for student engagement and success. Team members from the Academic Accommodations & Accessibility Office will be joining us to speak to any questions that intersect with accommodations procedures. \nSpeaker notes and the recording of the pedagogical presentation only (not the discussions) will be shared on CTEI’s YouTube page as well as CTEI Website Resources page after the webinette.
